I am shocked at what I see in court on almost a daily basis. Several years ago, I was in a downtown Phoenix court waiting for my client?s trial and a ?lawyer? pled his client guilty to the highest DUI charge. In order for the Judge to accept a guilty plea, the prosecuting attorney had to read a statement of facts in support of the plea. Upon hearing the facts ? the Judge stated ?There aren?t sufficient facts to support the guilty plea ? Not Guilty.? As the ?lawyer? was walking out of the courtroom, he saw me, leaned over and said ?Even a blind squirrel finds a nut from time to time.? I was sick to my stomach that that man called himself a lawyer.
