1988 GMC R3500 1 Ton Crew Cab Dually 107000 Original miles! in Prescott, Arizona For Sale
For sale is a xxxx GMC Rxxxx 1 Ton Crew Cab Dually.
I've owned this truck for 19 years and really hate to sell it but, I don't ever use it any more and I'm really tired of seeing it just sitting. It can be working as a GREAT work truck for someone.
The greatest thing about this truck is.... the drive train is like BRAND NEW!
IN xxxx I put a "BRAND NEW" MK6 454 Big Block Chevy engine in the truck at 99,000 miles and the engine only has had xxxx Miles on it. The truck originally came with a 4th generation big block engine, but I upgraded it to a MUCH STRONGER, and more durable 6th generation 454 engine. That cost me an extra 900 bucks for the conversion kit, on top of the cost of the brand new engine. It's still not even hardly broken it yet! The transmission was rebuilt at 90,000 miles so it only has 17,000 miles on it. I've completely replaced all the brakes on it recently, and the doors have all been COMPLETELY rebuilt with new hinges, bushings, pins, and strikers. This truck literally drives almost like a new truck. It drives very tight and has no slop in the steering or suspension. I've installed adjustable Rancho RSxxxx shocks on the front and have the new RSxxxx shocks for the rear. Just never put them on. The exhaust is more "free flowing" than stock.
The truck has "BRAND NEW" BFG Commercial TA' tires on it. Well, they're not actually newly purchased but they still almost have the little "titties" on em'. Approx. xxxx miles on the new tires. She's also riding on a set of KMC Billet Aluminum wheels.
The truck is set-up to tow anything! It has a class 5 receiver hitch, a set of fifth wheel rails mounted in the bed, and a hide-a-way gooseneck hitch in it also!
I also installed a genuine real Rosewood steering wheel that looks really nice. Also, I installed a Billet grille in the front.
Now the bad stuff.....
I want to be completely up front about the negatives because I don't want to waste your time, or mine.
The truck does have hail damage on it. The paint is peeling on the roof. There's a dent in the drivers door and the right side Dually fender has scraped a wall doing minimal fiberglass damage. I recently got the right mud flap caught on a curb backing up and bent it some.
The seats need to be re-upholstered and the headliner is sagging. I do have the new headliner material but haven't had time to put it in.
After doing all new brakes, the right rear brake sometimes grabs prematurely when stopping at a slow speed on a dirt or gravel road so, the brake adjuster needs to be adjusted. Haven't had time to correct that either. The AC clutch locked up on it but the System is still fully charged with R12 freon. As you all know, R12 cools WAY better than R134. You can take it to an AC shop and have them recover the R12 freon, replace the clutch and have it re-charged with the same freon. That's about 300 dollars worth of freon in the system at today's price on R12!
Bottom line......this is a 25 year old truck that still has a TON of potential to do a lot for someone. Even if you're looking for a REALLY GOOD survivor to fix up or restore, or make into a cool lowered street truck...this truck will fit the bill! NO RUST ON THE TRUCK!!!!!
The fact of the matter is......the engine, and the wheels and tires are worth WAY MORE than I'm asking for the whole truck. I could VERY EASILY make WAY more money if I dis-mantled the truck and parted it out but, I couldn't bring myself to do that to a truck that I've owned for so long. Not to mention it would just be a shame to do that to a very capable, very usable truck. If it was falling apart substantially, that would be a different story.
